Why Bella Hadid Is Summer 2017’s Breakout Style Star

The summer of 2017 has seen the rise of several major trends—warm-weather suiting, Matrix-inspired sunglasses, swimwear as streetwear—but the common thread between them all was Bella Hadid. The supermodel turned the sidewalk into her personal runway from New York to Los Angeles and all points in between with a series of street-style hits that solidified her status as this season’s biggest star. Sure, Hadid had is already a fixture at Fashion Week, but this was the season she really came into her own in terms of her off-duty attire—and as a quick rewind of her standout moments reveals, she’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Hadid seemed to be celebrating the start of summer when gave the Clueless look a sexy, dark new makeover in May. Not only were her leather miniskirt and fur-trimmed cardigan a match for Cher Horowitz’s preppy schoolgirl aesthetic, but both were also plucked from Hadid’s own Chrome Hearts x Bella capsule collection. Soon thereafter, she touched down at Cannes in Re/Done patchwork jeans grounded by silver metallic ankle boots from Topshop—the first of many fashion-forward steps she would take at the French film festival. Hadid kept the momentum going at Men’s Fashion Week in Paris in looks as directional as the designs on the runway; when she stepped out in paper-bag pants from Sankuanz’s Fall 2017 menswear collection, she proved it’s twice as fashionable to shop from the other side of the store.

Pieces that can pull double duty also became a Hadid calling card, the most notable example being “swimtimates”—swimwear-lingerie hybrids like the triangle bralette she layered a underneath a fluorescent jean jacket from Sami Miro. The underwear-as-outwear statement helped her keep her cool in the face of Europe’s heat wave (and it looked hot, too). Even while enjoying a bit of well-deserved down-time at the French Open, Hadid brought her fashion A-game. To attend the Women’s Finals in June, for instance, she paired a cheerleader skirt with a coordinating crop top with bold cutouts that revealed a sports bra with the Nike logo. Given that she’s a face of the athletic brand, the product placement wasn’t exactly subtle, but that didn’t stop Kim Kardashian West from subscribing to the idea when she took a similar top out to Olivier Rousteing’s party last week. After all, this is Bella Hadid’s summer, and the rest of us will do our best to stylishly keep up.Read more at:celebrity dresses | cheap formal dresses
