Your wedding dreams can all come true... just like ours!

AFTER tying the knot in a glamorous ceremony, last year's winners of the Post's Win a Wedding competition are today urging readers to enter the contest.

Robert and Jennifer Batterbee, of Gedling, entered along with hundreds of other contestants – and were thrilled with the experience. They even tell people they meet in the street to enter.

Robert, 43, a supervisor at Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station, said: "It's the biggest thing that's happened in our lives. I entered on a whim as a surprise for Jen but I never imagined we'd actually win.

"It was everything we wanted, but one thing that sticks in my mind is seeing the children's faces. They were absolutely elated."

The pair are parents to Kendra, 13, Frankie, five, Bobby-Bunty, three, and four-year-old Nevaeh – whose name is 'heaven' spelt backwards.

Robert, who was given the all-clear from cancer in July 2010, said: "I never thought I'd see Nevaeh born, but I battled through and it seemed like the perfect name to give her - she's like a gift from heaven."

The Post's annual competition launches again today, and one lucky loved-up duo could get their hands on a dream wedding package worth £13,000.

A number of sponsors have lined up to ensure a fantastic day for the winning couple, who will wed at Woodborough Hall.

Other local businesses will provide the wedding dress, create a wonderful hair and make-up look for the bride, take the photographs and provide flowers, entertainment, decorations, the cake, rings and a wedding car.

The Batterbees exchanged their vows in September with the help of the luxury wedding package. Four months later and their win has finally sunk in.

Robert said: "It's blissful. Since the competition it's been a whirlwind with the planning and then Christmas but now we're finally settled down."

Jennifer, 33, added: "I still have my gown hanging up in my wardrobe so I get to see it every time I open the doors. Nevaeh absolutely loves it and she can't wait until she's old enough to fit in it. She adores being a princess."

The duo battled it out with nine other couples in a speed-dating-style scenario at a red-carpet event at Woodborough Hall. Our readers had initially voted for their favourite couple and the final 10 were presented to a panel of judges – and given just three minutes to impress.

Joanne Robinson, Woodborough Hall's events planner, said: "Last year's wedding went really well and it was a great day. We're looking forward to being involved this year. We're a prestigious wedding location so it's nice to be able to give that to a couple who wouldn't have the opportunity to have a wedding here otherwise."

Robert and Jennifer's nuptials took place there just five years after he was diagnosed with cancer. The blow was particularly difficult for the couple as Jennifer's first husband had also been diagnosed with the disease and died just 10 weeks after their wedding day.

Jennifer said: "I never used to plan for the future after everything I've been through but since the wedding, everything has become more solid. I didn't think I'd feel any different, but I do."
